Café and Bar Lolita in the Parque Santa Catalina |

Café with a history on one of the most beautiful squares in the cityThe Café Lolita is named after “Lolita Pluma”, who was a well known character in Las Palmas and who died in 1987. It is situated in the Parque Santa Catalina and is probably one of the most charismatic and interesting Cafés in Las Palmas. It can be found between the Canteras beach, the shopping centre El Muelle, and the harbour of Las Palmas and is therefore the ideal place to relax after a sightseeing tour through the district Santa Catalina. Lolita Pluma (1904 – 1987), the name giver of the Café, spent a large part of her life in the Parque Santa Catalina. She used to be there every day to feed the straying cats and sell chewing gum to the tourists. She did not only stand out due to her love for animals, but also because of her unique behaviour and garish clothes and make-up. But besides that, the Lolita is more than just a simple Café. Its range of food is very excellent and in the morning you can already choose from four different kinds of breakfast (Continental, Mediterranean, Lolita-breakfast, or small breakfast). During the day it offers you different pasta dishes (tuna fish, meat or vegetable cannelloni, tuna fish or vegetable lasagne and spaghetti with diverse sauces), Spanish Bocadillos (sandwiches with gammon, salami, Gouda cheese, mozzarella, and tuna fish), hot dogs, small pizzas, and four sorts of salad. For the Bocadillos you have to pay between 2.50€ and 3€, the salads cost between 4.50€ and 6€ and the pasta dishes are all available for less than 6€.
Beer drinkers are also supplied well in the Café Lolita. The sorts of beer which are available come from Gran Canaria (Dorada, Tropical), Spain (San Miguel), the Netherlands (Heineken), Mexico (Coronita, Desperado), and Germany (Hefe wheat beer). |
